Verrà un giorno in cui i Trespassers W verranno riconosciuti come un piccolo tesoro nascosto dell’avant rock olandese alla stregua dei conterranei The Ex, non lontani nelle intenzioni (anarco-politicizzazione, diy) ma più alt-punk nei risultati, che nei Trespassers echeggiano principalmente il rock in opposizione i suoi tanti derivati. Su BU#80 del gennaio 2005 Dionisio Capuano tracciò il ritratto del gruppo in una puntuale e adeguatamente artistica monografia; oggi in questo quasi monumentale volume curato dal leader Cor Gout trovate tutti i testi in olandese, francese e inglese con foto, copertine e memorabilia assortita. Vale la pena leggere non solo per chi è già introdotto alla band e alla sua musica (bene!) ma anche per quanti ancora le ignorano (male), dato che ci sono motivi di soddisfazione’ anche senza l’ausilio sonoro Gout è anche scrittore in proprio e ha mano facile con Ie parole. Molta poesia militante (antirazzista, anticapitalista, pacifista, ecologista, femminista) ma anche e forse soprattutto, tematiche quotidiane apparentemente minori e laterali come i piccoli drammi domestici, un amore che prova a nascere, un figlio che arriverà, la miseria dei lavori da poco, le malinconie del vivere. Ecco, questa visione tanto combattiva quanto disincantata è il tratto che colpisce e piace maggiormente in una band che – l’ho scritto altre volte – mi pare, per tanti motivi sia culturali che musicali, il corrispettivo olandese dei nostri Franti. Il viendra un jour où Trespassers W sera reconnu comme un petit trésor caché de l’avant-rock néerlandais au même titre que leurs compatriotes The Ex, pas très loin dans les intentions (anarcho-politique, diy) mais plus alt-punk dans les résultats, qui chez Trespassers font surtout écho au rock en opposition et à ses nombreux dérivés. Dans BU#80 de janvier 2005, Dionisio Capuano a dressé un portrait du groupe dans une monographie opportune et artistiquement appropriée ; aujourd’hui, dans ce volume presque monumental édité par le leader Cor Gout, vous trouverez tous les textes en néerlandais, français et anglais avec des photos, des couvertures et des souvenirs assortis. Il vaut la peine d’être lu non seulement par ceux qui connaissent déjà le groupe et sa musique (tant mieux !) mais aussi par ceux qui l’ignorent encore (tant pis !), car il y a des raisons d’être satisfait même sans l’aide sonore. Gout est également écrivain et a le verbe facile.
Beaucoup de poésie militante (antiraciste, anticapitaliste, pacifiste, écologiste, féministe) mais aussi, et peut-être surtout, des thèmes apparemment mineurs et secondaires du quotidien comme les petits drames domestiques, un amour qui cherche à naître, un enfant qui va arriver, la misère des emplois au rabais, les mélancolies de la vie. Ici, cette vision aussi combative que désenchantée est le trait qui frappe et plaît le plus dans un groupe qui – je l’ai déjà écrit – il me semble, pour de multiples raisons à la fois culturelles et musicales, le pendant hollandais de notre Franti. There will come a day when Trespassers W will be recognised as a little hidden treasure of Dutch avant-rock in the same way as their fellow countrymen The Ex, not so distant in intentions (anarcho-political, diy) but more alt-punk in results, which in Trespassers mainly echo rock in opposition to its many derivatives. In BU#80 of January 2005, Dionisio Capuano drew a portrait of the band in a timely and suitably artistic monograph; today, in this almost monumental volume edited by leader Cor Gout, you will find all texts in Dutch, French and English with photos, covers and assorted memorabilia. It is worth reading not only for those who are already introduced to the band and its music (good!) but also for those who are still ignorant of them (bad!), as there are reasons for satisfaction’ even without the sound aid Gout is also a writer himself and has an easy hand with words.
A lot of militant poetry (anti-racist, anti-capitalist, pacifist, ecologist, feminist) but also, and perhaps above all, apparently minor and sideways everyday themes such as small domestic dramas, a love trying to be born, a child who will arrive, the misery of cheap jobs, the melancholies of living. Here, this vision as combative as it is disenchanted is the trait that strikes and pleases most in a band that – I have written it before – seems to me, for many reasons both cultural and musical, the Dutch counterpart of our Franti.
